Department Of Science, Math and Engineering: Overview

The Mathematics, Engineering and Science Department offers an Associate of Science degree that is intended to be a general degree not specifically tailored for any particular career path. As they work toward their A. S. degree, most students will take courses in a curriculum area (listed as “suggested curricula” in the college catalog) that is designed to give a student the courses necessary to follow a particular career path. The A. S. degree is not meant to be a terminal degree, and the career needs of most students will lead them to seek at least a four-year degree after obtaining our A. S. degree. The curriculum areas are suggested as aids in program planning and may be modified by the student in order to meet specific requirements of the intended four-year program at a university. Each student is urged to consult with an academic advisor early in his/her freshman year to plan an entire TMCC program with reference to a specific four-year program at a university.
